Our world is loud, busy, and constantly vying for our attention with everything from message notifications to flashy ads. It's easy to get caught up in the blur of busyness where one day's routine runs into the next, and so on. If this is you (because I know it's been me many times), force yourself to resurface from going through the motions, take a deep breath, and just be quiet. Retreat and find your silence.

Here's a little encouragement to help you out. (Verses from NIV)

1. Psalm 46:10 "He says, 'Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.'"

2. Habakkuk 2:20 "The Lord is in his holy temple; let all the earth be silent before him."

3. Ecclesiastes 3:7 "A time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak..."

4. Proverbs 17:27-28 "The one who has knowledge uses words with restraint, and whoever has understanding is even-tempered. Even fools are thought wise if they keep silent, and discerning if they hold their tongues."

5. Lamentations 3:26 "It is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord."

6. Isaiah 30:15 "This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says: 'In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it.'"

7. Hebrews 13:5 "Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, 'Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.'"

8. Proverbs 29:11 "Fools give full vent to their rage, but the wise bring calm in the end."

9. Psalm 62:5 "Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him."

10. Psalm 39:2-5 "So I remained utterly silent, not even saying anything good. But my anguish increased; my heart grew hot within me. While I meditated, the fire burned; then I spoke with my tongue:
'Show me, Lord, my life’s end and the number of my days; let me know how fleeting my life is. You have made my days a mere handbreadth;
the span of my years is as nothing before you. Everyone is but a breath,
even those who seem secure.'"
